Singapore’s 50th Birthday: What to Expect?

Singaporeans are thrilled of Singapore’s 50th birthday in 2015. To make the country’s golden year memorable, the organizers have put in place different celebrations that will last the whole year (of 2015). The celebrations will start in the eve of New Year and it will end in December. Singaporeans should expect jam packed activities. Everyone should look forward to this.


What are the celebrations in the Republic’s golden birthday? Here are some activities that you must look forward:

  • December 2014: December 31, 2014 will mark the end of the year and the beginning of a new one. As early as New Year’s Eve, the celebration will start. The countdown to 2015 will be held at the Marina Bay Sands.
  • April 2015: On April 11, 2015, there will be Youth Celebrate! This event is for the youth and how they can make the world a better place.
  • June 2015: On June 5-16, 2015, the Southeast Asian Games (SEA) will take place here. The preparations are made long ago.


  • August 2015: On August 9, 2015, the National Day Parade will take place. Everyone should join the parade.
  • September 2015: No details are provided as to the date of the revamping of National Museum of Singapore but one thing is certain, it will be in September next year.
  • November 2015: In November, you should watch out for the grand opening of the National Gallery Singapore. This is to celebrate art and the people.
  • December 2015: People are anticipating the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Para Games. This is to celebrate people who can still make a difference despite their disabilities. This will surely give you inspiration.

As if this is not enough, the organizers also prepared other highlights all throughout 2015. Other highlights include SG Heart Map Celebrations, My SG Trails and Exhibitions and Launching of Jubilee Walk. From March to October 2015, there is SG Heart Map Celebrations which will give importance to 50 appealing places across the island. Between January-August, there will be My SG Trails and Exhibitions which will feature SG50 Lecture series and Let’s Makan.

Apart from this, the organizers have arranged the launching of Jubilee Walk in November. The walk will cover historic places around the country. The committee organizing the event is also encouraging Singaporeans to make initiatives that will benefit the community. Successful participants are entitled to SG50 Celebration Fund and Community Quilts.
